John Reich Sensei began training under Howard Sensei in February, 1999. John had previous training in Karate and Aikijitsu. In January, 2000, he spent two weeks in Los Angeles, California training under Haruo Matsuoka Sensei. In April, 2004, John opened the Chicago Branch of the American Aikido Institute at Elite Martial Arts Facility. In May, 2006, the Chicago branch moved to Samurai Karate Dojo in Wilmette, a northern suburb of Chicago. He was promoted to Nidan in 2007.
