Michael is the oldest son of the founder of the American Aikido Institute. He began his martial arts training in 1983 at age 6 under his father's direction. He was promoted to 2nd degree black belt in American Karate in 1992. In 1999 he received his 2nd degree black belt in aikido. He was promoted to 3rd degree black belt in 2007. Michael is a senior staff member of the American Aikido Institute.
